September 2024 Recap

01 October 2024

Eventually, I’ll start to have more non-blog post pages and projects added to the website. We’re still in early days but as I was thinking about how I’d structure things a monthly recap was always in the cards. Continue reading for a summary of the posts, pages, structural changes, and then any minor thing that caught my attention that isn’t a full-blown page or post yet.

Post Summary

On the 22nd, I said Hello World to you all. It was meant to break the ice and get me started. This isn’t the first blog I’ve ever started, but most don’t get past this post. Thankfully that wasn’t the case as the next day I posted a recap of the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix. I had a lot of fun taking notes while actively watching the race. It’s helped me keep a lot of threads sorted in my mind. A couple days later, I summarized my recent Apple purchases in Apple Christmas. A week later and I still am enjoying the new devices. Finally, yesterday I posted about a new video game that I couldn’t be more excited for: LUNAR Remastered Collection. These games will likely be the source of my first web project.

Website Changes

It is important to me to have a list of all posts I’ve made. With Jekyll, the standard behavior is showing a few blog posts and then multiple pages. I want to keep that, but the Archives page will satisfy that requirement.

I also created the Fitness Logs page where I’ll put my physical activity stats. I seeded the page with the August totals and just updated the data for September. My running is up as I’m threw the hump of getting acclimated to my run streak. My steps were the same, but if you consider there was one fewer day in September then it’s agood sign. My non-stepping workouts still need some work but it’s coming.

Tidbits and Miscellaneous Notes

I recently needed to get a list of all the paths of all files and folders within one folder. I did some research and on macOS, if you hold the option key (⌥) in the context/right click menu with the files selected ‘Copy’ becomes ‘Copy as pathnames’. This saved me a tremendous amount of time, but didn’t feel like it needed to be a full post.

To better illustrate, see the GIF below illustrating the effect:
